Now that the ground is officially thawing, it’s time to spend more time outside. I decided to put off a few indoor home improvement projects and focus on the exterior of the house instead, so I will share a few posts in the coming weeks. Most of the posts will be short and sweet, so that you can easily read an update while you're sitting by the pool or at the beach.

Grass Care

The builder we worked with planted grass last year, but due to the constant sun we get and a drought at the end of the summer, it’s been needing extra care. John and I have been working on filling in some bare spots with extra potting soil and grass seed. Hopefully, in a month, we will see some new green joining the existing grass.

Spring Cleaning the Yard

Spring cleaning isn’t only for your house. We have been getting a lot of rain, which is wonderful for our grass and trees, but it has brought a lot of weeds. I find weeding to be therapeutic since I feel like I’m cleaning out the growth that isn’t needed. I’ll also share my unofficial tips for getting the weeding done.

Finally, it's time for flowers! I have been researching the best ones to plant since the flowers need to tolerate sun and clay soil. Thankfully, I’ve come up with a good list thanks to an app I discovered last year. This year will be my first time planting flowers on my own, and I’m looking forward to getting started.

Grand Opening of the Pool

One major project that I have not shared yet is the inground pool that we had built last Fall. It was finished around November, just in time to close it up for the winter. This will be the first official summer of the pool, and I am very excited to spend my weekends there.
