The half bathroom or powder room on our first floor is functional, but it felt so dull and uninspiring that it was in dire need of a refresh.

It’s hard to believe that the house closing was a year ago but time flies when you’re having fun getting settled into a home! While a lot of work has gone into the house, this is a good reminder that creating a home doesn’t happen overnight (or even in a year).

Teamwork makes the dream work, especially when it comes to installing large TVs. Our team was made up of 3 people because our TV is 75 inches.

I define "light DIY" as tasks such as painting, swapping out light fixtures, and using furniture, art, and textiles to finish a room.

The first part of our dining room transformation was complete and that left the fun part of the project: painting!

We decided to keep it simple and include a dining table and chairs only to solve that problem. But would the room feel too empty?

Once the cabinets and appliances were installed, the finishing touches for the backsplash and light fixtures were added.

Why renovate a brand-new kitchen? It's much easier to make changes before all of our belongings were moved in.

I referred to this project as "cosmetic kitchen upgrades" because I didn’t have to do a total renovation to this room in my house. 

When I first designed the room, I chose a dining room table that could be used for the occasional work-from-home day. Then Covid-19 hit.
